Travel Through the Milky Way
In this video, our musician FiFi will lead you through a journey into the universe, but also into her own sweet memories with her best friends on her home planet, where an exhilarating beach party is happening! From the spaceship to the surreal beach house, FiFi will transfer her beautiful memories of the past into the energy for the future.

CineAsian Films (CAF): How did this collaboration come about and what inspired the look and concept behind Travel through the Milky Way?
Dazhi Huang: The musician Fifi Zhang contacted her good friend Leah Lin, the art director about making this music video. Leah had worked in my live-action short film before as the production designer, she did an amazing job, so it was a wonderful collaboration. We wanted to continue that into the music video.
Fifi, Leah, and I came up with the visual concept of this video: Space Travel + Summer Party- Fifi, the astronaut, is having her adventure around space while thinking about her good days on earth and partying with friends, especially when facing dangers and difficulties. Still, at the same time, she bears no regret and keeps going.
CAF: What were some of the challenges you faced during production?
Huang: The biggest challenge was combining the green screen footage with 3D animation. There were three people on the team, including Fifi, the musician as well as the 2D animator, Leah, the art director who has also created the 3D animation with her architecture background, and myself, the final editor. None of us had experience in green screen compositing back then. Thus we took a long time to discuss, test, and polish, the music video was launched two months after the date it was initially scheduled, but it turned out it was worth the wait. During the process, FiFi and Leah guided me through her insights and attention to detail, and eventually, something unique, catchy, and inspiring was created.
CAF: What do you hope people can take away from watching this music video?
Huang: In my opinion, it has been a very difficult time for many people right now. But I hope this music video can suggest an alternative perspective that our contemporary is a challenging era for us so that we can progress to the next level. I think this music video offers hope and resilience while still encouraging us to have fun in life.
CAF: Have you been working on anything new?
Huang: I’m currently working on an animation short and a script for a live-action short film- it’s a Rom-com with some Western movie elements.
