The teenage daughter of an affluent Chinese family in America struggles for control when her past abuser returns, threatening her carefully crafted future.
Lola is a touching coming-of-age film with beautiful visuals that bring to life the psychological state of its protagonist. Exploring complicated dynamics of Asian families, sexuality, and the unspoken struggles of sexual abuse and self-discovery, Isabella Tan tells this important character study with care and patience, encouraging the audience join our protagonist on a journey of self-worth and acceptance.
